Rumah Sakit Kalvari (Calvary Hospital) is located in Wamena, the center of transportation and commerce in the interior of Papua.
The vision is to begin the operation of a Christian medical center here in Wamena using expatriate missionaries as mentoring and teaching staff, with Papuans as regular staff at all levels. This medical center would care for the local population as well as accept referrals from outlying villages. Perhaps its most important function will be as a place for on-the-job training of village health workers. There is also a plan for a community health outreach with special emphasis on HIV (which is just beginning to become a major problem here), TB, STD's, and other specific local concerns.

Currently, the medical center will have only a small clinic which is just being finished. Staff is still being recruited. The clinic opening depends on getting more capital and staff. The medical work is being sponsored by the Gereja Injili Di Indonesia (GIDI). The missionaries involved are from three sister agencies - UFM, Pioneers and WorldTeam. These three organizations have been working together for the past 40 years helping Papuan Christians.
Funds are still needed to purchase medical equipment and supplies.
